But Yoshi's wooly world is more of a traditional platformed where crafted world is more of a scavenger hunt Honestly if you want a really easy to play game for him Kirby star allies would probably be a better option. Dec 11, 2016 Welcome to Yoshi's Woolly World! The purpose of this guide is to walk you through obtaining 100% completion in this game. It's not necessarily meant for those who just want to finish the main game, as the game was designed to be easy enough to beat on its own. Yoshi's Woolly World is a side-scrolling platformer video game developed by Good-Feel and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. The game is the seventh main entry in the Yoshi series of games, the first home console title in the series since 1997's Yoshi's Story, as well as the spiritual successor to 2010's Kirby's Epic Yarn.
Basic Info and Tips
Yoshi's Woolly World plays similar to old games, but with a twist! This time, Yoshi throws yarn balls instead of eggs. You can swallow enemies like classic Yoshi and make them into yarn balls, or get them from boxes scattered throughout each level.
You use these to attack enemies, fill in platforms, reach places too far away, and unlock secrets. Yoshi can also use his tongue to grab yarn pieces, such as on walls, to unlock secret areas. You can also play every level co-op, so feel free to bring a friend.
There is classic or mellow mode. Classic mode lets you play the game normally. Mellow mode gives you wings so you can fly around to make everything easier.
You can also spend the coins you get during levels to buy badges. These badges do things like make all yarn balls big, or save you if you fall in a pit.
During each level, you can collect flowers, yarn bundles, stamps, and health. If you collect every flower in all the levels of a world, you get a bonus level. Collecting enough stamps unlocks special stamps to sue when posting on Miiverse.
How to Unlock more Yoshi Patterns
You can unlock a new Yoshi costume from every level in the game. You must collect every yarn bundle during the level to unlock the costume at the end. They are the tube-like yarn objects, usually in secret areas. You can check your progress at any time during the level by pressing '+'.
After you unlock them, you can either switch with the Yoshis on the map, or go back to the Yoshi Hut on Craft Island.
Tips
- Big yarn balls can attach and go through more than one thing.
- Save these for when you want to fill in multiple areas at once.
- Check everywhere!
- This is the best advice I can give if you are trying to collect everything, especially for unlocking more Yoshi Costumes.
- If you see a cloud with wings and a '?' on it, throw some yarn at it!
- Sometimes these are hidden and only show up if you throw yarn or move into the area.
- Use yarn wisely!
- Even though there are boxes, and enemies, to give yarn balls, you don't want to run out at a bad time.
- Only throw yarn if you are trying to unlock or find something. Just jump on or swallow enemies.
- Make use of the Flutter Jump (Hold jump button).
- Flutter Jump gets you places you couldn't get to otherwise.
- You can also do it multiple times before landing. You can't go higher than the initial jump and each time you do it, you'll drop a little.
Yoshi's Woolly World Differences And Disorders
amiibo Support
amiibo work for this game in a couple of different ways. First, if you have a Yoshi amiibo, you can tap it on the game pad during a level to add an extra Yoshi. This allows you to play with two Yoshis at the same time and double your chances at surviving.
You can use non-Yoshi amiibo to add new Yoshi costumes. You can save these and change them by going to the amiibo hut on craft island. Check the official amiibo site for a full list of compatible amiibo for Yoshi's Woolly World.
You can also use the Yoshi costumes you earn during the game on your amiibo Yoshi. Go to Yoshi Hut, select a costume, then apply it to your amiibo. Now when you add an extra Yoshi during a level, it will have the new costume you chose. You can also choose from 3 different colors for each pattern.

Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World is a Yoshi platforming game for the Nintendo 3DS. It is a port of Yoshi's Woolly World, which was released for the Wii U in 2015. The game includes the entirety of the original game's levels, along with a bonus mode called Poochy Dash in which the player controls Poochy and tries to collect as many Beads as possible. It also introduces Poochy Pups, who assist the player in discovering secrets when playing in the easier Mellow Mode, Yoshi Theater, which features 31 Yoshi stop-motion videos, and the ability to design custom patterns for Yarn Yoshi. The game uses up 974.125 MB (7,793 blocks) of free space on the SD Card, if players purchase and download the game off the eShop. Changes and new features[edit]- This port features more extensive amiibo support than the Wii U version. Like the Wii U version, various amiibo can be scanned to give Yoshi patterns based on those characters, but several newer amiibo now have their own patterns of Yoshi as well.
- The game is now compatible with: Princess Daisy, Waluigi, Boo, Lucas, Roy, Ryu, Corrin, Waddle Dee, Wolf Link, Callie, Marie, and any of the Animal Crossing amiibo.
- Similar to the Japanese and international color variations of the R.O.B. amiibo in the original game, the game also recognizes the Splatoon 2 variants of the Inkling amiibo and Super Mario-line Wario amiibo as a specific amiibo as well. This does not apply to the female Corrin amiibo, however.
- For unknown reasons, the game does not recognize the Cloud, Bayonetta, Goomba, and Koopa Troopa amiibo as specific amiibo, despite being compatible with the Corrin amiibo.
- A Yarn Poochy amiibo was released alongside the game; tapping it during a Yoshi level will put Poochy in the level for Yoshi to ride, while tapping it in one of the bonus Poochy stages will enable them to be played in Time Attack mode. If these Time Attack stages are completed, exclusive Poochy designs will be unlocked.
- If a Smiley Flower is collected at the end of a stage, instead of playing a Bonus Game, a Gold Rush for Poochy Dash is unlocked where Poochy can collect Beads from a Gold Lakitu.
- There is no longer a Results screen with Yoshi looking at it, due to the collectibles been shown on the touch screen.
- A Yarn Yoshi amiibo can be used to store a custom Yoshi pattern and transfer it to another copy of the 3DS game.
- Stamp Patches have been removed from this version, and are replaced with Pencil Patches.
- Multiplayer mode has been removed, even though the introduction shows Red Yoshi escaping from Kamek as well as Green Yoshi.
- The worlds and levels are on a straight linear path going left and right (akin to Super Mario 3D Land) instead of being connected through fully controllable hub worlds (like Super Mario 3D World).
- The player needs to press instead of to play with a Yoshi.
- The game progress is shown and hidden with and instead of being shown when the player stays still for 10 seconds.
- The game features enhanced performance on New Nintendo 3DS systems, running at 60 frames per second (like the Wii U version) compared to 30 frames per second on standard 3DS or 2DS systems.

Release | Reviewer, Publication | Score | Comment | Nintendo 3DS | Daniel Krupa, IGN | 7.1/10 | 'Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World remains one of the cutest games around. Even though most of the tactile charm of the Wii U original has been lost to the 3DS’s technical limitations, there’s still plenty of fun to be uncovered in this colourful and often inventive platformer. Incidentally, it also brings some of the happiest, catchiest music ever to the 3DS. Yoshi’s faithful Poochy is loveable new addition, but he feels underused; he appears only in a handful of animated shorts, a sparse challenge mode, and as little more than a series of assists in the super-easy ‘Mellow’ mode. He definitely makes tracking down all of the numerous collectibles more enjoyable, but it’s a shame this instantly likeable character doesn’t have more to do that’s unique to his skills.' | Nintendo 3DS | Kallie Plagge, GameSpot | 7/10 | 'Though the gulf between two very different difficulties is not fully fixed by its additions, from the updated Mellow Mode to the extra Poochy levels, Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World gives you what you put in--it can either be almost frustratingly hard for a determined collector or a good fit for someone who’s just looking for a fun, relaxing few hours of platforming.' | Nintendo 3DS | CJ Andriessen, Destructoid | 7/10 | 'Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World is as fun on the 3DS as the original is on the Wii U. The levels are just as crafty as before, the visuals take a slight hit but are still colorful and creative, and the soundtrack is so gosh darn charming. It's the best Yoshi game on the 3DS, and if you don't already own it on the Wii U, I would suggest picking it up.' | Aggregators |
